As autumn deepens, autumn leaves are starting to appear
even in the southern part of Hokkaido.
Today, I would like to introduce Kosetsuen near the Yunokawa district,
a spot for viewing autumn leaves recommended by the staff of the Hakodate Airport Sales Office.
Kosetsuen in Miharashi Park was a villa of a wealthy merchant in the Meiji era,
and is now familiar to the citizens as a park in Hakodate City.
(the only nationally designated cultural property garden in Hokkaido)
It is one of the most famous spots for autumn leaves in Hakodate.
Now, maples and ginkgo trees are colored with the most beautiful colors of the year.
There are about 150 species of trees on the huge site,
and walking paths are maintained so that you can enjoy the Japanese-style garden.
The garden pavilion located in the center of the site is a pure Japanese-style building that represents Kosetsuen,
and it has existed since the garden was built around 1898 (Meiji 31).
It has a sukiya-zukuri style that incorporates the style of a tea room,
and the roof is made of cypress bark, which is very rare in Hakodate.
Depending on the time of day, you can tour the inside,
so please enjoy the beautiful autumn leaves of Hakodate even from inside the garden pavilion.
During the autumn leaves season event "Hakodate MOMI-G Festa",
you can enjoy the light up of the maple trees stretching for about 100 meters from 16:00 to 21:00.
It is quite chilly during the light-up period, so it is recommended to come in warm clothes.
Kosetsuen, a great place to enjoy both during the day and at night,
takes about 10 minutes by car from Hakodate Airport or Yunokawa Onsen.
There is also a free parking lot, so please come and enjoy the autumn leaves with a car of World Net Rent-A-Car!
