Have you ever heard of "Sunagawa" town before?
There are a lot of shops for desserts in Hokkaido,
and "Sunagawa" is a place where the whole town is famous for sweets .
In Sunagawa City, which is located in the middle of Sapporo and Asahikawa,
sweets shops are lined up along the road named 'Sunagawa Sweet Road'.
Today, I would like to report on some dessert shops are on the Sunagawa Sweet Road!
How about a trip to a delicious town that fans visit from outside the city and out of Hokkaido?
1．SHIRO Cafe
SHIRO, a famous cosmetics brand,
opened a cafe with the concept of
"We want to provide the deliciousness of the ingredients used for skin care as a dish."
The first floor has a cafe and take-out space, and the second floor has cosmetics and goods.
The cafe is always crowded, so I ordered it at the first.
It's winter, but the inside of the store was warm, so I ordered it with cold-brewed iced coffee.
If you prefer a sour taste of coffee, you would like it.
Also, I ordered Rhubarb & Franboise Pancakes too.
Fluffy and sofe pancakes, sour framboise and fragrant rhubarb were perfect for coffee!
The arrangement is also very beautiful.
I want to go again for another menu.
They also sell pancake mixes and maple syrup, so you can enjoy the same taste at home.
SHIRO 砂川本店

2．Nakaya
Nakaya, founded in 1948, is famous for its apple pie!
The apple pie is baked at the store and sell as many as 2,000 pieces a day,
and when I visit, most customers bought a set of 10 pieces.
So depending on the timing, you may have to wait.
But you should try this apple pie!
The crispy and buttery scented dough goes perfectly with the savory apples.
Even though the expiration date is only one day,
it was a taste that I can understand people who purchase in a set of 10 pieces.
The apple pie is the most popular,
but there are many other recommended sweets such as Cream puff, Nakaya pudding, and Karinto manju.
Actually, they are selling so many other desserts, so these are recommended as a souvenir too.
ナカヤ菓子店

3．Cafe MEDERU
"Medel" which renovated a private house.
The cafe is popular by scones, but the eat-in space is currently not open and only possible to take-out.
Even though I don't like scones very much, it was quite moist and soft,
so it was delicious enough to be eaten comfortably without a drink.
They also sell accessories by handmade artists and miscellaneous goods such as kitchen stuffs.
Black tea is also on sale.
The trial pack was cheap and I bought it with scones.
Jam is also popular, and strawberry jam was sold out in front of me on this day!
It is a lovely shop with a calm atmosphere.
When the cafe opens again, I will visit the shop again and take a break at the cafe.

4．Donut cafe ZUZU
A donut shop on a slope a little away from the Sunagawa sweet main road.
The lovely shop, which is a renovated old folk house.
Donuts are being baked carefully by making and fermenting dough every morning.
There are always more than 10 types of donuts lined up in the showcase,
including new and limited time sales donuts!
I chose the most popular one, New York cheesecake and a limited time sale, royal milk tea taste.
The cream is inside the dough, not outside, so you can eat it deliciously until the last bite.
Also it is not heavy and has a fluffy and chewy texture.
Miscellaneous goods and jams are also on sale.
Unfortunately, eat-in space is not available at the moment.

5．Honda
Founded in 1948, "Honda" focuses on apples as its main product.
Honda's apple pie is a crispy puff pastry that is kneaded without using any water,
the apples inside are moist but have a slightly crispy texture.
My recommendation is that buying and comparing the apple pies that are on par with Nakaya introduced above!
(I forgot to take a picture and ate it... It was super delicious!)
There are many other sweets using apple!
Romance de Pomme is a sweet made from sable, white chocolate cream, and apples,
which was developed over the course of about three years.
There are many variations such as Romance de Pomme enkei using chocolate,
and Romance de Pomme mellow with brandy!
The strawberry festival was just being held!
All of them used a lot of strawberries and the design was very cute.
Honda's cakes are also recommended.

6. Kitakaro Sunagawa Main store
Kitakaro, the most popular sweet shop in Sunagawa.
I think it is already a nationally famous confectionery shop.
There are many products th
at come to mind, such as the cream puff "Kita no Yume Dome",
the soft ice cream made from Hokkaido milk,
and the Hokkaido Kaitaku Okaki that is particular about the ingredients of the sea in Hokkaido!
However, in addition to the main store in Sunagawa,
there are also nice stores such as Sapporo Main Building and Otaru Main Building,
and stores that mainly sell limited products such as KITAKARO L,
and products limited to Sunagawa Main Store are not sold in particular,
so you don't have to insist on visiting the Sunagawa main store.
But you should try Kitakaro's sweets even other shops.
